Siemens chooses the Murcia region for its new European R&D and Innovation Technology Center

The German muiltinational Siemens will locate its R&D and Innovation Technology center for Europe in the Murcia region in the Fuente Álamo Technology Park. The company will sell the resulting software in France, Belgium, Italy and Portugal. An agreement will also be signed in the coming months with the Murcian Public Healthcare Department for the testing and employment of products made by Siemens in the Hospitals of the Murcia region.

The Minister of Health in the Murcia regional government, María Teresa Herranz explains: "This agreement will ensure Murcia spearheads developments in the hospital software sector". She also highlighted the fact that the first field of research in the new R&D and innovation center will concern the digitalization of dermatology and cardiology testing.

Thirty researchers will work in the center located in the Ingenia center of the Fuente Álamo Technology Park, which will be completed in April. In the meantime, the company will set up a provisional center in the Telecommunications Engineering School in the University of Cartagena, with which a training and research agreement will be made.

The director of the Fuente Álamo Technology Park, Joaquín Juan Agüera, underscored the importance of the project for the region: "The fact that a leading multinational in Europe has chosen the Fuente Álamo Technology Park as the location for its R&D and innovation center is great news. This will put Murcia on the digital healthcare map in Spain and Europe. Also worthy of mention are the important research and development agreements being set up with universities in Murcia and Cartagena".
